I'm interested in outdoor installation work rather than gallery exhibition. More than half of my exhibitions were outdoor installation works. In particular, I am interested in public art projects. The material for my work is mostly clothes or fabrics. It is not just because I can handle those materials well but also because those materials soften the hard buildings, and is able to make a sharp straight line round or creates illusion that makes the clogged place loose. Consequently, my work provides viewers with the room for the positive participation.
In recent years, I have been doing a series of video works. In those works, my interest is to submerge into the deep inner part of myself. This is quite opposite of the pursuit of outdoor installation work. Isolated from outside world, I try to depict the slow and repetitious daily life, and the subversive violence, and the self-torment that I experience in it. Above all, it is very important to me to depict the antenna of hope, not losing the sense of wit and humor.
